Oil life remaining not resetting to 100%

Not sure if this is the right forum but anyway....

Got the 8.1l engine in my suburban flushed last week at the dealer (knocks on cold start, hoping its the lifters).

Now the engine oil remaining resets to 88% and doesn't appear to be dropping. I put over 300 hard towing miles on it this weekend and its still at 88%.

I have reset it with the accelerator and the DIC steering wheel controls to no avail.

What gives??

Mine is stuck at %30 but I can reset it back to %100 until I turn the truck off :banghead: I just never look at it anymore. Let me know what you find out.

Mine was at like 20% when I brought it in.

How did yours get "stuck"?

? :dunno: I dont know it just always says 30 and wont get any lower. I can reset it and it will stay at 100 for the duration of the drive but the next time I get in and start it will be back at 30

  • 2 weeks later...

Dealer said they had it figured out, the Tech2 that is.

They reset the oil life with the Tech2 unit but my readout still says 88% and doesn't move.

Is there anyway to reset the gauge cluster "computer". It is looking like that is where the problem is. The PCM resets just fine.

PS I have tried disconnecting the battery but not the gauge cluster.
