04silveradoclone07ss
well im lowering my truck finally, after waiting for parts and trying to find time, i think i have a set date. i just opened up my shocks and the bushings arent installed, and there is a weird metal piece with it. and no directions. im looking if someone can help me by giving me some directions how to install these bushings and shocks in the truck, if you have pictures that would be great. well thanks in advanced.~~Kyle
gixxerrider
what kind of shocks?
04CHASE
imo its the easiest thing to do . the rears are 15 minute job very easy. the fronts are a little trickier but still easy the easiest way i found was to get an impact with a deep socket and keep tapping it so it will break the nut loose and get it off without you having to hold a wrench on the other nut. the bottoms are easy . but this is for a torsion bar setup. the busing are alreayd in place for the rears so thats easy just dont overtighten them . the front i have fround you have to make sure the bushing sits in the hole or it will not line up and be out of the groove the metal washer goes between the busing and the nut on top and between the shock and the busing on the bottom of the front shocks. the bottom of the front are already installed too. pnblwzd
I've never seen shocks sold like this without the bushings already pressed into the loop. Judging by the various mounts that came with them, these look like a universal application shock to work on anything type of mount. You are going to have to press those rubber bushings into the loop, using either a large C clamp, a press, sockets, etc, whatever works - maybe some silicone on the rubber will help the slip in. I would probably press the rubber in first, then press the metal tube that the bolt goes through into the rubber. Make sure you select the right metal tube that will fit the stock mounting bolt BEFORE pressing it in, sometimes they are too small.

I beleive that fork thing would be used on a coil spring suspension, it would be pressed into the bushing and you can bolt it to the bottom of the a-frame if you can picture that.
