desertss
did anyone else notice the indy 500 saftey trucks. looked to be 03-04 chevy crew cabs with ss front and cladding they were a darker red than the victory red, almost a burgandy. had billet grills, no bowties. ss wheels. maybe the george family cant afford the real thing

BOB47
Yeah, I saw them. Looked good but I can't help wondering why they would go to the expense of making a SSS clone for a safety truck.

ImpoSStor SS
Ask and ye shall receive! I took these in 2003, 2004 & 2005. They do appear to be Victory Red.
FireRescueSS
Yes, I noticed. I was watching thier light set-up as well. Any, why not put it on there? There is no SS badges or anything like that on the truck. I say their cool, and they got the money to spend... and those trucks do serve a long term of service, it's not like an auto show truck. ImpoSStor SS
In years past I've seen real SSS's on the track serving other functions. One had a bed-mounted jet engine and was used as a track dryer. Others were used to tow the track dryers. This year all the other trucks were NBS Silverados. FwyFlyr
No one mentioned that in 2003 there were 33 blue SSS used by royalty at and around the track during the weeks leading up to the 500. There are 33 rare blue ones out there that have some graphics and are numbered.
Jmajor1
yea i saw them I was at the Indy 500 this weekend, there where only two of them the rest where new red silverados. and yes the grills did not have the chevy bowtie on them but they did have the full ss body kit they also at after market heads and pipes they sounded sweet. I talked to a race offical and he said the two sss would go over 125mph on the track because they were the fist ones on the scene when a yellow came out. I have some pictures of them that I will post as soon as I get them uploaded.
FireRescueSS
Yes, they sure can respond to the scene pretty quickly
SS Silv
Yeah, I saw them. Looked good but I can't help wondering why they would go to the expense of making a SSS clone for a safety truck. It looks like a long box.
