yamaha918
Has anyone come across a bolt on that really helps gas mileage?
torqueaholic
Here are some free ones: Remove the spare tire. Increase tire pressure. Improve your driving habits: http://www.motherjones.com/news/feature/20...ml?welcome=true 59mpg in a normal Accord, not hybrid
Ross
^ The guy in that article is an idiot. He's just going to cause someone else, if not more, to get in an accident by driving like a moron. He should just buy a bicycle and be done with it.
wody
this topic has been brought up before. most would argue that if you are concerned about fuel mileage, you shouldn't have bought a sss. a tune will probably squeeze the most mileage out. im looking to buy another car here pretty soon since the truck has become my toy. an added daily driver will probably be everybody's best bet to save fuel/money. torqueaholic
For my daily commute, I want to get an old 1980s Mercedes Turbo Diesel . Remove the muffler and it sounds like a semi truck.
drako
On windy days I put a sail in my bed....make sure your lowered though since the higher center of gravity may make you capsize on a gust.

yamaha918
Well with normal driving conditions my Z71 lifted would get like 250miles to a tank, my record was 290. im kinda just wondering how they compare...
Vortec MAX
I actually noticed a 1.5 MPG increase after I installed my cat-back. I never noticed a difference with a tune, bed cover, or CAI. Mike
Ross
I just installed my ported TB from SS_bnoon_SS along with a K&N drop in filter and a few "modifications" to the stock airbox this past weekend. I gained 2.6mpg average according to the dash. Now thats just from one tank of gas to another - normal driving conditions (some highway and my short 10 minute commutes to work) I'm sure it'll vary, but regardless, for a total of under $100 it was definately worth it. Just my $.

haulin79
Improved mpg means better efficiency, so for every drop of gas that is used, a larger percentage of that drop is converted into POWER which translates into motion and therefore distance. I doubt anybody here would complain about more power. Many things that improve mileage will also improve acceleration: less weight - carbon fiber parts, lighter rims and tire combos. less friction - synthetic lubrication. less aero drag - bed cover, lowered suspension. less engine air flow restriction - exhaust, cold air intake Edited June 4, 2007 by haulin79 (see edit history)
