GetWithIt
Here's the deal........I have a Canon PowerShot Digital camera, and the last time I changed batteries in it, it started acting up. I can take pictures in artificial light (inside house etc.) just fine, but when I go to take pictures outside in natural light, the pictures have the "solarization effect" to them..............Is this thing finally trashed after 3 yrs of service? Just wanted to know before it gets thrown across the yard....................... I want to take pictures of my new grill/shopman bowtie and dual exhaust, but didn't want to buy a new camera just yet................Thanks in advance for any info............................ Jonmalibuss
I would have to say 3 years is about the limit on these cameras because I had one and my mom had one 3.2 mega pixels the A70 to be exact and both of them went out after about 3 years but we had a different issue than you. We could see pictures on the card on the screen on the back but when you took a new picture it would take a blank picture like the shutter wasn't working. I replaced it with the A630 8.0 mega pixel and I must say this thing takes amazing pictures and it was cheaper than the A70 was.

usabodyguard
i am unofficially a camera nut... i have about 4k in camera gear right now... i have a Nikon D80 with the battery grip extension and 5 nice lenses... depending upon what you use it for, dont spend a lot of money... go here and read some info - www.kenrockwell.com he is one of the leading experts in the camera field and he shows on his website why a $5000 camera is not much different than a $150 camera... of course he owns probably 100k in camera stuff, but he knows his sh*t... i learned an awful lot from his site, even spoke to him a couple of times over the phone too. hope this helps.... and yea, your camera now isnt worth fixing, especially with technology getting so cheap. BOB47
At the camera store that I manage we see this almost daily. Probably a board went bad. Repair cost on most digital cameras average around $150.00. Generally not worth repairing unless you just really love the camera. Panasonic/Lumix is coming out with a new one that's 8.00mp with all the bells and whistles that retails around $149.95. Don't know the track record on these yet but all their lenses are made by Leica. Leica only makes excellent ++ lenses. I don't have any in yet, but if you're interested and not in a huge rush, pm me and I'll see if I can hook you up.

Hey bob, how do you like the d80 with the 18-200 nikkor vr setup? I also have the nikkor 12-24, the nikkor 70-300 vr, and the 105 nikkor macro, and the 1.4f 50mm nikkor too... i mostly use the 18-200vr though... i'll post a picture later i took recently... canon makes a great camera for around $150 too...
