Lankness
Only option my truck doesn't have that I would like to add, so I just bought a steering wheel with controls off of Posi's wrecked SS. Anyone have some information on replacing the steering wheel? Is the wiring already there and thus will just need to be plugged into the new wheel? Do I need some wiring harness as well? Any information is appreciated. Thanks.
faceliftedss
i believe you will need to wire everything the remote cable to your deck and there are a few others that go into the cluster to scroll through milage and stuff. i'm not sure where to get all of it. but installation should be cake. Lankness
Cool - do you know if there is any tricks involved with getting the wheel off and dealing with the airbag?
06crew
I've been curious on that too.
Lankness
Ok - well I haven't touched this in awhile so I figured I would revisit... I pulled the collar off of the wheel without controls to start checking the wiring. In comparing the 2, there are definitely some more wires coming off of the one with controls (duh). Most all line up as direct replacements, but there are a couple that I don't have anywhere to plug into. I am assuming that these are to the stereo and to whatever controls the dash options. Are there different factory head units depending on whether or not you have steering wheel controls? Would I need to have a different radio? Is there another harness that runs from my radio to the steering wheel wires? Sheesh - figured a $100 option would just be plug and play, but this is turning out to be a pain... Is there another harness that runs from my radio to the steering wheel wires? Thanks for any advice.
