BlackSS04
I just went to Discount Auto Parts and found out what my check engine light was. They said i am running too rich in banks 1 & 2. they say it won't harm my truck at all, just my gas miles. Is running rich bad for the engine or cats or anything? What should I do about this, send it back to wheatley to have him tone the tune down? Or should I just leave it be? But I do need that check engine light gone though. Edit: and is running rich the reason for my flanges on my exhaust leaking? Edited June 8, 2007 by BlackSS04 (see edit history)

BlackSS04
i guess i'm gunna have to send my tune back to wheatley to get that straightened out. i also need to soften my 2nd gear shift anyway, so it will all work out. and will putting back my stock tune take away running rich and the check engine light? and should i put the stock tune in now just for safety? sorry about all the questions. i'm a newbie to all this tunning shit. I'd put it back to stock. I'd worry the extra fuel would eat away my cats and clog up the system. Better safe than sorry as they say

Better safe than sorry as they say ya see, this is why i choose to keep my stock tune. alright, i'll switch it out today. and the black liquid in my tailpipe was probebly fuel ya say. does that mean i should get my cats checked as well? Edit: and is running rich the reason for my flanges on my exhaust leaking? the reason you could be GETTING that code is because your exhaust flanges are leaking. Usually the p017x codes are a mechanical issue of some sort rather than a tuning issue. Just FWIW. -Bill

Just FWIW. -Bill ya sure, because thats the first time i've heard off that. i've already told my tuner about it and he's gunna clear that up for me. he's gunna send the pcm out sometime this upcoming week. i've switched back to the stock pcm and the check engine light is now gone, so i don't think i got the code because of the flanges leaking. but man, this truck fell on its face when i put that stock tune back in. the tbtc stalls lower now that i have TM back, and the shifts arn't nearly as firm. this just proves how much a tune is really needed with these bolt-ons. misterp
If you get a SES light for running too rich that means that the AFR is so out of whack that the computer cannot "adjust" for it (LTFT or STFT more than 20 off); something is very wrong with the tune. Mr. P. wheatley will take care of it. he's going to soften my hard ass 2nd gear shift too. i can't wait untill i get it back.
