Quik
well since im kinda limited to what i can use on the truck since i have DJM hangers. Ive been searching other sources of traction aids. Ive been reseaching alot of lightning items and noticed some are cutting 1.4s with Long bars. if some of you dont know they connect to bottom of the leaf like a caltrac but instead of going to the frotn of spring they to on the frame ahead of the spring perch. these seem to work well with the L's so i dont see why they wont work for me. I teamed up with a local Fab shop to use my truck as the test mule. If they workout for me they might just fab them up for others. I included what a set look like on a lightning. for the ones we're thinking of are going to use Hind joints and slightly larger tubing. thinking 1 3/4 chromoly and instead of going off the frame rail were thinking off the frame/body mount [since that is the straightest point from the perch] if your wondering it would cost me alot more money to do caltracs since i would need new hangers and Long bars provide lightnings with excellent traction. i figured i would post up to hear what some think and who would be interested in some depending on how well they work for me. if you guys dont recall im a NA 408 with a T56. i have every intention of coming out of the hole in the 6k range
brobradh77
Is there no adjustment? I know on caltracs you have to adjust for racind and daily driving do you not need to do this with these? I am always interested in better traction along with drivability so let me know cost and how well it works.
04CHASE
from what i can see it looks like it will do exactly the same thing as a cal trac. interested to see you rresults. when will the truck be running and ready? what are you doing for tires? I used a set of long bars on my old C-10 (big block powered) along with 1 leaf removed from the leafpack (allowed more squat at launch) and empty air shocks. Cured my wheel hop problem and I quit blowing rearends entirely. I used air shocks mainly because they could add back in the payload capacity that one leaf missing took away and they basically work similar to 90/10 shocks when the air is out.
