SSThunder
That sucks. I can't tell you how many times older folks(70+) have pulled out in front of me . I try to keep my eye out for them because they will pull out in front of me when I'm going 60(in a 55 zone) and they pull out and go 10 mph. It's like they don't see me coming or they can't judge distance very well. That's why I think there should be a test for older folks. If their reactions and stuff slow down that much take their license. Otherwise you might as well let drugged up/drunks drive. all 3 groups are dangerous IMO
fox_forma
my brother just witnessed the same type of accident in front of his place the other day only he lives on a semi small highway and an old lady, about 75 pulled out into a car doing about 50, hit them, then hit a bread truck. My brother had to help pull the lady out of here car, he said she crapped herself and she was old.
eddieo818
This lady was so scared she kept walking in n out of her house. then she starts telling me that she was dyin of cancer and all the other stuff, kinda freak me out! called my tow truck guy, he picked me up and we went straight to the body shop. atleast my insurance is gonna pay for the paint on my cowl hood, my new bumper, both car and truck getting the lights smoked. Hankg42
That sucks man..yeah I feel when you reach a certain age you need to take driving tests. In fact, I think EVERYONE should be re-tested periodically. And not just that they remember how to parallel park. I'm thinking like a minimum of every 10 years have a mandatory refresher course, with a written and a driving test. There are an awful lot of people out there that have forgotten what they learned, or never learned it to begin with! Too many bad drivers on the road. Too many bad drivers on the road. i agree. with all the baby boomers getting up in age, i've thought this for awhile, everyone should be tested once a year after the age of 65. there are gonna be alot more elderly drivers than ever out there soon enough. most importantly, glad you're ok. the car can and will be fixed. just ruins your day and becomes an inconvenience. FireRescueSS
It's a common theme. Reaction time slows down, as well as their vision, and hearing (which, with newer, tightly sealed cars with AC, and or way too loud music, that point is mute), and their ability to judge distance and speed. Distance and speed is usually the problem. I've also responded to alot of car vs. motorcylce, and the person behind the car is usually either drunk, or elderly, which I guess, can't see that great to noitce the bike. Also, women drivers are really not that bad... just they are generally pretty hot, so you tend to noitce them, and pay more attention as to what they are doing. As for the cars... it sucks, but you've walked away from them. In my point, the car did was it was supposed to do, and that is to protect you. That's also why we carry insurance. Proven theory, if you don't carry insurance, you'll mess up and hit somebody, then be screwed, or have insurance, and you'll be the one getting hit by the uninsured.
