Running cylinder compresion ?

Recommended Posts

I have a 408 cid motor and the piston rings were cut for a blower and nos (a little wider cap then normal) and I'm wondering what a good running comp. rate would be.Also, what the max p.s.i. difference between cylinders should be.Thanks for any help you can give. Don't want to tear the motor down if I don"t have to

I am not sure, but I think you are talking about a compression test ?? If so then A good rule of thumb is to have less than 10% variance between cylinders. So if an engine has an average compression reading of 150-psi there should be less than 15psi between the highest and lowest cylinders.
