SSThunder
While installing the 3.0 pulley and belt I noticed the front axle was sitting on the bumps tops. from what I've read there should be some space between the two. Will drilling the 1st and 2nd nub be enough or do I need to remove 1 nub then drill? I plan to turn the torsion bar bolts a few turns to lower the front some. i think the alignment shop cranked theses up before the alignement as it sits higher now than after the 2 drop spindles were installed. SSThunder
Mine touch and I have no issues some do drill holes in them and there is a how to thread I believe Mr. P did it. I turned the torsion bar screws to adjust the front but it isn't moving. I'm guessing its because it's sitting on the bump stops. i cut one nub off then drilled them. I'll try to drill them before cutting any nubs but I'll probably end up cutting a nub. I tried to turn the tosion bar screw on the passenger side 2 full turns but it didn't move. I'll guess I'm off to removing the bump stops for drilling.
SSThunder
Done. I think I'll have to crank the torsion bolts up a few turns or remove a nub because the ride is a little firm for me. The passenger side front height was 34" 1/16. It's now around 33". It took about 9 complete turns of the torsion bar screw to get to that height. The driver side front height was 33 9/16. It's now around 33". It took 4 complete turns of the torsion bar screw to get to that height. I think the drilling helped but for the height I'm at something else has to be done. I either need to remove 1 nub or crank the torsion bolts up a few turns. I drilled the holes with a 3/16 bit. I drilled 6 holes in the 1st and 2nd nub. I also drilled 2 holes from the top. down through all 4 nubs. I'll get some pics tomorrow. I love the height of the front. Now I need to get the back lowered more. rivierakid55
thats exactly how i felt. the back just wasnt low enough with the 2 inch drop shackles. now im thinking of adding 1 inch drop shackles to my 3 inch leafs.
pnblwzd
On mine, to get the height/stance that I was looking for, I had to trim 1 rib off the front bump stops because it was riding on them and wouldn't go any lower with torsion bar turns (in addition to the 2" spindles). The end result is 33" rear (leaf packs) and 32.5" front (2" spindles and torsion relaxing) ride heights, measured at the center of the wheel openings J
SSThunder
UPDATE: This morning the front looked lower so I measure it and sure enough it came down some more. Now the driver side front sits at 32" 1/8 and the passenger side front sits at 1/8 below 32" . All though it does look I'm going to crank it up some. The drive to work wasn't too bad this morning and I'm getting used to the stiff ride. I'll crank it back up to 33" on boths sides and see how she rides then. If it's still too rough, 1 nub will have to come off. I've already got 2" shackles on the rear. Will a 3" shackle and hanger need any shims? Same question if I add a 3" leaf spring drop instead of the hangers. The SS def looks good with a drop. Even the wife said it should have came that way.
