SSThunder
I gave my nephew my stock SS wheels so I thought about using his stock wheels at the track. A guy on PT.net thinks the steel rims weigh around 35 lbs each for a NBS steel rim off a RCSB 2WD and tiretrack.com gave me a stock tire weight of 33 lbs each. That would put the total wheel weight at 68 lbs which is a quiet a bit less than the 90 lbs I run now. My question is can I run these wheels at the track? The width of the tire does cause some concern as I'm affraid traction will be a problem. I know the my tune would have to be updated but the guys on EFILive forum agree it will be easy to change that. Is traction the only thing I'll have to worry about? Thanks, Jeremy
Krambo
I'd run them! I think the traction will be much better than you think. This tire combo is roughly 1.5 inches shorter than your stockers which will improve your ET as well. I think you will like the results Keep us posted... BTW, I ran shorter tires at the track without changing my calibrations. When I changed my tranny parameters (like a dozen or so) I had no difference in E.T. however picked up just under 1MPH. I did several runs to compare. I used the auto calibration feature with HPTuners.

Since I'm probably running a little lean it might help me. It will be a few weeks before I get back to the track. I'm now running the 3.0 pulley. Krambo
would running smaller tires make you run richer AFR? Didn't change for me although I only had narrow band O2's to compare. They were all the same.
