BlackSS04 Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 do you think this will make the air cooler? http://www.designengineering.com/products....m=sp&pid=33
packjh Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 in theory yes....truly i have no idea....for 71 dollars tho id be more willing to make sure it works before i buy it edit..... dei is a well known company too so. just wanted throw that out there
12'SROCK Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 chpspecial has that wrap for his turbo truck and its ok i guess temps are pretty much the same. hope he chimes in soon...................
Badkarma Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Should work to a degree, by how much who knows. I just sent the intake tube and air box lid from my GMPP CAI to be jethot coated. Should insulate better than the chromis finish it came in
jc04ss Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 There is some info on the AEM Brute force site...forgot what the site is called. And when I called Outlaw Power Intakes they were very informative about how the CAI's work. From what I have seen and heard, in a nutshell, is that our intake tube is less than 30 inches so when your giving it half throttle or WOT, and wanting the gains of the CAI, the air is moving at such a fast rate that it really does not matter what the tube is made of. Made sense to me IMO.
RidinRimss Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 do you think this will make the air cooler? http://www.designengineering.com/products....m=sp&pid=33 so this is what they say Cooler air increases power; and Cool Cover™ tube wraps deliver just that - cooler air. Simply wrap this heat-treated fiberglass mat around your aftermarket intake tube, and you'll immediately notice the performance-enhancing benefits of a cooler intake charge. so i guess you'll have to take their word for it. i will prob try it out since it's so cheap so if you get it let us know if its any good or i will when i get it. oh and i found this one for $59 here at http://www.lagunaspeed.com/display_part/24...L_UNIVERSAL.php and also i haven't seen anyone who has purchased this kit write any reviews good or bad about it so maybe someone on here knows first hand. yeah like packjh said it's made by dei
dl11sec70dodge Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 only worth the money if you have excessive under hood temps due to turbo, and like jimp said the air is moveinng too fast through the short tube to pick up that much temp.
RidinRimss Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 deff makes sense about the air traveling at such a high rate of speed but the colder the air the better right.
crawlinss Posted August 26, 2007 Report Posted August 26, 2007 my friend put a cold air on his sentra spec-v, and didnt notice much of a difference. i helped him install it, and we drove it for about 20 minutes, went back to double check everything, and the intake pipe was so hot i burned my hand. i had some header wrap (pretty much the same stuff from DEI that you have up there) and we put it on there.....that made a decent bit of difference. if your engine runs hot (which mine doesnt, i hope yours doesnt either) it may help out...otherwise you should be fine w/o it. i wouldnt pay for a whole kit though, ive got enough for a cold air i'd sell you much cheaper if you want.
