2006SilverSS
Got a message from allshocks.com that the Bilstein shocks are now available for the 06 SS and placed my order. Now to wait for them and then install them . Part numbers for anyone that wants them: BE5-C891-H0 (FRONT RIGHT&LEFT) BE5-C892-H0 (REAR RIGHT&LEFT)

I'm hoping to order a set of 4 soon.

I would assume that it could be possible... stock height is the same on the AWD as the RWD I think. I doubt that they changed up the suspension much when they changed over to RWD. pnblwzd
For the people that are going to ask will the Bilsteins work on your lowered SSS; I called Bilstein and the answer is, for the most part, NO. However, if you only lowered the front end with spindles, which doesn't change the static ride height as far as the shock is concerned, then you can run them in front. If you lowered the rear more than 3/4" (.75"), then you can't. If I can't run the matching shock F&R, I would hesitate to use them only in front. Good, since I just changed my stockers out for the Belltech ones and if these were available for the lowered guys, I'd be pissed. Although, I can't see why these wouldn't work for the lowered crowd since I and alot of other people were using the stockers after we lowered. I believe the answer to that is because the stockers are a twin tube and the Bilsteins are a single tube, or vise-versa. The mono tube is designed to be at a certain (stock) static length when installed, and if the truck is lowered then that length is altered. Alex: Which Belltech shocks did you get, the new Street Performance ones or the Nitro Actives?

I didn't know anything about the Street Perfomance ones or else I would have been the test dummy for them.
2006SilverSS
Got the shocks today and took a pic of them. Anyone know how to install the front?
04CHASE
front is easy bit not as easy as the back , i used a 3.8 impact gun with a deep socket and long extension. this is for the top of the shocks, just keep tapping the trigger so it will break the nut loose. same way to install, the bottom is easy just like the rear. orion :: SS
Just did my Bilsteins on Monday... To REMOVE the stocker - Use a 5/8" wrench on the bottom of the upper collar for the front shock...it'll keep the shaft from spinning, and you can use a regular socket to remove the top nut. ... To INSTALL the Bilsteins...use a crescent wrench on the flat tab up top...with a "ratchet wrench" open end to tighten the supplied 17mm top nut. Easy stuff, you'll need nothing other than a jack...and the wheels can stay on. ... OH...one other note: A 13/16" or 21mm open end will make removal easier. The rear bolts, top and bottom...are this size. I used a large crescent to hold one end of the large bolts in the rear...and the lower nut/bolt on the front. If I had a larger open end in the right size...it would have been easier and quicker. - Brian
