CenWaSS
I am in the process of installing some Dynatech headers/hi flow cats/x-pipe. I've got a mail order tune, do I need to have my PCM retuned for the headers? Any info is appreciated.
Big O
Personally ... I would contact nelson instead of the forum ... but I'm sure someone will chime in who knows ... I'm guessing no since it is already tuned for the corsa and the CAI ... but it can go either way probably.
misterp
Any time you significantly change the engine's breathing ability (volumetric efficiency) then a retune will be needed to get the most out of it; long tube headers have the biggest effect on VE of any bolt-on short of heads, cam, or FI so yes a retune would be recommended. Look at it this way: the whole reason to installing headers is to improve the engine's VE, and that will require changes in fueling. OTOH most people do not get a retune because the MAF sees the changes in airflow and automatically adds in more fuel during normal driving between 2000-4000 rpm, but outside those conditions yeah your tune is off by as much as 10% or more.
