Radioshop
I did a search here and read up on the Sirius/XM conversion. There was quite a bit of good information here. I picked up the GM compatible tuner from Best Buy and put it in. It's an easy job and if you're of the mind to do it, don't hesitate. I even got one month free out of the deal. The posts here were spot on, with one exception. Everyone thought the radio display would still indicate "XM" instead of "Sirius". This has changed. My Bose unit now says "SR" when selecting up the Sat. radio. I also used my XM antenna that came with the truck, also gathered from this forum. Don't bother sticking the mag mount on and running the cable. So far the XM antenna is working well. XM has two satelittes versus Sirius' three (or more), not to mention your rxcvr is a passive device so no harm will come from using another antenna. Radioshop
why even bother converting, the merge between XM and Sirius should be complete by the end of the year supposedly......... Ya know, I thought about that. That's why I didn't pitch the XM rxcvr in case they decomission the Sirius network someday. The thing is I had an account with Sirius, which I hadn't used for a month since I got the truck. I used to have XM, but it sucked. I'd feel more confident about the so called merger if I went to either of the corporate websites and saw something more about it. I think it could be longer than the end of the year. I'm just impatient, I guess? Either way, I don't think I lost out on anything by doing it, except for the money on the Sirius rxcvr. To get the better programing until the "merger" takes place is worth it to me.
