06SSTB
Hey everyone!!! I currently own a 06 TBSS and I love the SS trucks... I found a 03 with 98K and the place wants 17900 and this comes with a 5 year 100K warranty, so it would be under warranty til almos 200K. I think I have him talked down to 16000 for the truck. Is that a good deal? Also what problems should I look for with the truck? The only thing I can tell that is wrong is that it needs the steering shaft replace... when i worked at a GM dealer in the service department i remember they had a recall on these... Would i be ablt to go to a dealership and have them replace it for free? The truck is red and from what i can tell has all the options... the only thing it doent have is rear dvd which im not sure if that was around in 03... It runs and drives very nice.. the suspension doesnt seem to be warn out and it is bone stock down to the air filer.... Well tell me what you guys think.. Thanks James

KissMySilvSS
check out Ebay and autotrader.com for one local. The intermediate steering shaft clunk is pretty common on most newer Chevy trucks, not a big deal. Good luck with your search.
Fireman31
welcome to the site FYI, rear seat DVD was never an option on the SSS
riddle
hello, to me 16K seems like a good deal? I come from an area where all wheel drive is in high demand and those truck are rare, here any way. as for the mile's, if the truck runs strong now, and you leave it the way it is. that engine should pull 200k easy w/regular maintenance. On the Upper Intermediate shaft, If there is a Recall it will be done for free. But I only remember there being a service Bullitan on those? Could be wrong? only 2 bolts hold it in, 15mm wrench and your there! very easy. Welcome!
misterp
hmmph - maybe I'm outta touch, I thought $16K was a good price assuming the truck is in excellent condition. I don't think you will find one cheaper. Another bargaining point, unless the warranty is honest-to-god General Motors warranty don't get it, a lot of guys have gotten burned when the warranty companies welched on repairs, the genuine GM factory extended warranty was the only one I've heard of that actually followed-through. So you might be able to have them knock off some $$$ by foregoing the warranty. Truck wise, yes the steering shaft is an ongoing sore point, and I would have an experienced transmission expert evaluate the condition of the trans because I would not doubt at that age it needs to be refreshed, my $0.02. Good luck whatever you decide. Mr. P.

It's either abuse or not imparative to repair.(after I wasn't worried about voiding warrenty "cause i basically didn't have one" I did a full build) "Major Gurad" is GM's Warrenty. make sure it says that, or it is not authentic. best extended warrenty for your truck. 06SSTB
ok guys thanks for the heads up on the truck... i will probably buy it in the next few weeks and ill post pics... Teh waranty is not a gm it is a aftermaket company... i dont know the name or anything about them but it comes with the truck so i guess i jsut wont waste the time calling them if they act like that.. So whats some of the first things I should do to the truck mod wise? I guess the basics like cai and full exhaust and a tune but is there anything that you guys just think really helped out alot? Like a convter or anything? Thanks for the help!!

Shift kit + trailblazer torque converter = Headers go a long ways on these trucks too. Mr. P.
