tbyrne Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 Volant is supposed to release their scoop for the Silverado SS and Avalanche sometime in February. The part number will be 35960 and price - $139.99. We're currently taking pre-orders and will send them out as soon as the first batch arrives. Tom
GEAR M UP Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Would that match up well with the Radix supercharger?
SilveradoSS04 Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Any idea on how much more power, torque, or air flow the scoop adds to the volant cold air box? Just curious-Thanks
BenKey Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Would that match up well with the Radix supercharger? Don't know if you have a Volant air box or not, but it will work with the radix.
GEAR M UP Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Ben, I'll go and pop the hood and see.... With more of a ram air effect this should help HP wise?
GEAR M UP Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Stock air box, but I think there is an K&N airfiler...... Is it worth the $140 bones? Now, if I won that $50 Gift Certificate give-away it would only be $90
BenKey Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 I wouldn't try to strap on the Volant air scoop if you still have the stock box. You can make your stock box into a ram-air type setup, just not as pretty. I have the Volant and ram-air, but I don't think it helps much with the radix. Could be a few horses in there, I guess. If you want to get the Volant scoop, get the box to go with it. Just makes sense IMO.
tbyrne Posted January 19, 2004 Author Report Posted January 19, 2004 The scoop is designed to be used with the Volant induction. Cool air gets rammed in when the truck is at speed and then forced into the airbox where it is sucked in by the motor. I've installed ram air systems on various vehicles and usually see about a 1 MPH inprovement at the track. Tom
Woffski Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Is this the complete system, or does there need to be something else????
tbyrne Posted January 21, 2004 Author Report Posted January 21, 2004 This is just for the scoop package. The induction needs to be purchased seperate.
scottzlrov Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Recently, I have been performing dyno tests for Volant on some of thier products. They are working on the scoop now and have asked to borrow my 04 SS for fitment which should happen in the next week or so. Regards, Scott
