slammedbowtie
i know i know, your gonna hate me. another exhaust question. ok first off. my muffler guy says hi flow cats are bs and he learned that in school. i say bs i noticed a huge difference in my fullsize blazer and my other pickup. now the cats on them were the size of garbage cans origionally. the stock cats on the ss are almost the same size as a high flow. will it make a big difference if i change them or not? this is what im thinking. from the duals that run back an x pipe, then two mufflers, out the rear corners. i want loud but legal. the x is making me wonder if its gonna be to quiet? and the cats come back into play again? any help? thanks! BlkSSnCpt
well i dont know about the cats but the x-pipe will help with the loudness but it will also give it a smoother sound . i have LT's 3" dauls, x-pipe and exits behind both rear tires so i know wat u mean about it being loud and my lt's and x-pipe help with that for sure... good luck -Rob
kaotik1
You should just buy my headers and cross overs with the cats already in place....
smoke03
im confused...will the x pipe make it louder or quieter?
slammedbowtie
i have read on numerous sites that the x will make it quieter, but with some increase in torque. i dont want quieter i want loud but legal. im puttin pro street mufflers on. but i dont want to sacrifice the sound by installing an x. and by leaving the stock cats if they will make a big difference since they are the same size as the hi flows, will they make that much of a difference? and no headers right now. too expensive and exhaust leaks are my enemy!! haha if that makes more sense?? rivierakid55
the xpipe will make it quieter. it will even out exhaust scavenging producing more low end torque. if you concerned about noise just ditch the cats and or the x-pipe. the gains won't be that noticeable either way. AUTOGUY
DON"T do it WITHOUT the X Pipe, you will be sorry and will add it later. I had mine done without, and it was so loud it was unbearable. It made some strange noises, and the one side had almost no pressure coming out, where the other was very high. The X pipe evened out the flow and the sound was smoother, but still loud. It will even the pressure in both pipes, and give you more low end torque. slammedbowtie
i know the torque increase prob wont be very noticeable. but i have to have cats! i live in cop central. either hi flow or stock. i dont know if its worth putting hi flows on, like i have said before they are amost the same size as the hi flows, what can be the big difference between them? and putting the x on will make it ever quieter. ugh. i think the x is the right way to go. i just love the real raspy exhaust note from the mufflers and dont want to lose that. rivierakid55
i totatlly agree with autoguy. when i first did mine i did the dynatechs and true duals with no xpipe and it was way to raspy sounding. then switched to an xipipe and dual magnaflow bullets and it still sounded tough just a lot smother. slammedbowtie
did you go with a 3 inch or 2.5 inch x pipe?? everyone says something different. either way. i think im leaving the stock cats. going with either 3 or 2.5 inch x into two mufflers (whatever size the x is) then out the side before the tire. rivierakid55
i went 3 inch all the way from headers back.
slammedbowtie
i know lots and lots of people on here dont have stock exhausts haha. need some feedback. some people say the pipe size is 2.5 right after the cats. i know the stock pipe for the most part is 2.75. do i reduce it to 2.5 or go with a 3 inch x. anyone else have x's? what size? thanks
