Reese Byerrum
Hey guys, I have a 06 SSS and I was wondering if its worth it to get rid of the drum brakes in the rear and go disk or to keep the drum? I want to put Bear Brakes on and i know they make a conversion kit for the truck. Don't know if i want to spend the $900 to do it. Let me know what you think. Thanks
madmax
about 6 months ago i did the conversion on my 06 vmax and i couldnt be happier with them!!! i also put the front alumasports on at the same time and now she stops on a dime. before the upgrade when people would stop short in front of me my heart would stop, my stomach would sink, and id grit my teeth and hope for the best...i havent had a close call like that since i put these bad boys on. theres a big difference from light to light but where i can really tell is the 80+mph panic stops. i drive like a maniac so this for me is my favorite mod yet...plus they look sweet too! rivierakid55
you guys that are interested should research quik's post on how he converted a 14 bolt drum rear to discs on his regular cab truck. i will someday do it but probably not until my fronts need replacing. Fireman31
$900? Where did you find the rear Baer drum/disc conversion kit for that price? The only place I found it was stylintrucks.com for $1500, here is the link......... Baer rear disc conversion @ stylintrucks.com If you are concerned about brake feel, upgrade to Power Slot Rotors and Earls Stainless Brake Lines and you will get a much better brake feel.
