misterp
Or you can just do what I did...upload the stock program [and then later reload the] stock program back onto the pcm and no one will be the wiser. I am sur eit is going to be different with the newer pcm's where they can track changes and access etc. That might not work either. ... Restoring your OS & tune to your PCM will not be detected (if done correctly) for everything prior to the E67 controller, but I've heard that most if not all GM products have been consolidated to this new controller now and not only is it locked from the factory but the hardware itself has a reflash counter that cannot be manipulated; so if you download your original tune and operating system back onto the PCM (oh excuse me I mean ECM...) the factory will know. Also, I have read from several sources that the E67 controller will only accept up to 10 flashes and then it will refuse to be flashed again but I'm not sure if that is just a rumor. The aftermarket has seen this coming for the last 2-3 years and in the import scene they've been piggy-backing aftermarket controllers for a while now, so I would not be surprised if we start seeing similar solutions now for GM products. The good news of all this is that it will drive poor tuners out of the market, they can't deal with the increased technical demands -and- now customers will be very, very cautious because of warranty issues. The bad news is that PCM tuning is about to become FAR more expensive to the end customer, like instead of a few hundred dollars paying a few thousand dollars. Or piggybacking the E40 PCM somehow...
