mbarnes Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 thinking about going ahead and putting suede on the door panels, sunvisors, and headliner. need a little advice on what type is the best to use. real or fake, foam backed or not? also if anyone has any sites that offer it a decent price. the local shop told me to use foam backed and they wanted $50 per yard for fake suede, and $80 per yard for real suede. seems a little high to me, i think because im doing the work myself they tried to charge me a little more for the fabric. thanks in advance. raidaz4lyfe Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 I'm not sure if you have a Joanne's out there, but it is an arts and crafts store and that is where I got my suede... if you do have Joanne's, wait for them to have a sale because I got the real stuff for 10 bucks a yard during one of their sales. SS_bnoon_SS Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 You don't need foam backed fabric, but for sure get upholstery weight lined material (if you go Ultrasuede). I've gotten it for $17 a yard at discountfabricsusacorp.com Quote
Turbocoop Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 Do you think you could do just the 2 door inserts with one square yard? Ive been pondering this too Quote
RICE EATER Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 wow thats pretty cheap. ive got a buddy that runs a shop and was gonna do the seats doors and headliner for $700. which i thought was a pretty good deal.. but if its that cheap i might do it my self. hell i can mess it up a few times for $17 a yard..haha Quote
