rob777 Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 A guy pointed out two fast trucks and a mustang at the local track in albuquerque and told me about his tranny guy that did the trans on all three of them. I ended up meeting him and took my truck over there to get the transgo shiftkit HD-3c installed and vette servo, and he installed the Vigilante 2600 stall converter that I furnished. The truck came out fantastic, no leaks, crisp snappy shifts at light throttle and bangs hard at WOT! This guy is very reasonable on his labor rates and did a great job. I gained 4 tenths in the quarter mile with those mods! I was pleased. However, the only thing I did'nt like was almost paying $1000 for a 2600 Vig converter and I can only brake stall it to a shade over 2000 RPM, does that sound right to anyone? My best launch times came from brake stalling it to 1100 and stomping on the 2nd yellow light. Even at that the truck feels a heck of alot better out of the hole I guess I was hoping for even a little more rrrs on the brake stall to take off even better. cadowns Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 Glad you found some one good to do that work. The 2600 Vig will stall a bit low unless you are hitting it with extra power. You might try a flash stall and smash it off idle at the track. Mine hits at 22 to 2400. CD Quote
rob777 Posted June 4, 2008 Author Report Posted June 4, 2008 Thanks for the info, I can't afford forced air yet, but I'll give that a shot next time at the track. CD Quote
zippy Posted June 4, 2008 Report Posted June 4, 2008 When ordering a Vigilante, always ask for 400rpm over what you actually want. They are always 400-600 rpm off what you want on the low side. Quote
