Dog Pack Attacks Gator In Florida

At times nature can be cruel, but there is also a raw beauty, and even a

certain justice manifested within that cruelty.

The alligator, one of the oldest and ultimate predators, normally

considered the "apex predator", can still fall victim to implemented

'team work' strategy, made possible due to the tight knit social

structure and "survival of the pack mentality" bred into the canines.

See the remarkable photograph below courtesy of Nature Magazine.

Note that the Alpha dog has a muzzle hold on the gator preventing it from

breathing, while another dog has a hold on the tail to keep it from

thrashing. The third dog attacks the soft underbelly of the gator.

Not for the squeamish!!!

Dude, I was so ready to see a bunch of wolves ripping up a gator...

I'm almost, disappointed now.

That's still a damned cute picture though, makes me want another puppy....

I was the exact same way when I got the email!!!! the pups were the only reason I posted.

I saw a little 4ft gator that looked like it wanted to attack a dolphin yesterday at work, I bet the dolphin would have beat its ass but it swap away instead... I did step on a gators head once and it hissed at me, that wasnt one of my smartest moments

They say it takes no strength at all to keep their jaws closed, cause they have no muscle that actually opens the jaw bones, only close them with extreme force (forget the exact lbs/per square inch, but I believe it was 4 digits).
