Removing Cab Lights....

For some reason the previous owner of my SS decided he wanted to have cab lights installed.... :wtf: ... not to mention i also have a damn old school caprice emblem (the one on a spring) on my hood.... :banghead:

Now i want to take them off... As far as the hood goes, im going to buy a cowl hood.... For the cab lights, i think it would be cheaper to buy a new roof skin and have it put on and painted rather have the holes filled in.

Has any one had experience with this before? I'm open for whatever suggestions you throw at me.

Thanks,

Neil :flag:

well my father does car and truck customizing and paint. we did the cab removal on 3500. we took the lights off and filled it fiberglass it came out looking great cant even tell they where even there. i think he charged 1200 to do it that everything including labor. but idk about replacing the skin. it may cost more but its you call bro. the hood i would replace like you said. if you have anymore questions pm me and ill talk to my dad about it.

I would think it would be way cheaper to have the holes filled and painted. as for what the previous owner was thinking... who knows man?

if you're gonna skin the roof, go all out and get a custom carbon fiber one made and lighten up that thing!!! :D

They are same ones that come on 2500 and 3500, stock style cab lights.

Based on my experience...the roof is so small...the windshield and back glass R&R is a sinch...I would skin it...although migging patches would not be so tough either...but in the end, I think a skin would be better in the long run...just my .02...i just never liked to have any type of 'plastic/bondo' filler on a roof panel especially a black one...the roof is a very 'oil can' type of sheet metal...
