70chevy03ss Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 Well I am looking to put a TC in my DD I am going to put on a Procharger soon. I am going to beef up the trans. I am looking for some ideas. I need to find one that will hold up and perform. What are your guys thoughts. Looking for a good street mannered Tc. I don't race but I want one that will hold up if i need to take out a mustang or something. let me know your thoughts guys... Quote
kelleyperformance Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 (edited) the most popular and cost effective converter seems to be the trailblazer converter. many people run them on this site. but if all your worried about is it holding up, you have nothing to worry about. the stock converters work just fine. for more performance, the best converters are made by precision industries and yank. however, they are signifigantly more money than the trailblazer converter. id recomend that first, due to its almost stock driveablilty and noticeable performance increase. for more serious upgrade, id go with a 2600-2800 stall from yank or PI... anything higher on a DD you will definately know ones in there EDIT: im sure this is in your plans, but an upgraded trans cooler is a must when going up in stall speed, as it creates more heat. Fireman31 Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 +1 for Precision Industries, more expensive than Yank but worth every penny, a high quality TC Quote

I have felt it slip a little here and there. Did a transmission fluid change and filter at 50,000. But sometime I like to drive around town in 3 to hear that exhaust. Lots of headds turn. thanks for the help I will let you know if I can't find it. Quote
misterp Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Ideally you want a stall speed of 2800-3000 with a centrifugal blower, and that's a little higher than what the TBTC can deliver. Mr. P. Quote
eric.dally Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Also I don't know how often you do any towing but haven't there been issues with the TB TC holding up when pulling a load? Quote
