I was thinking of putting dumps with electric cutouts on my plans for the SS and wonder what the actual gain is if the truck is tuned with them closed. I know EFI works differently than carbs as you can't just adjust them on the fly most of the time. This is my first EFI build so I'm fairly green about things like this. I know what the gains can be on a carbed engine but what about our trucks. $400 for electric cutouts is fairly steep IMO so tell me why it's worth it!

youll gain a headache imo , i dumped my exhaust for about 10 minutes and turned around and put some exits right back on.

i dont know what it is about my exhaust but it sounds great and i dont get a headache from it at all. It must be the angle and where they are dumped at

Thanks for the info. That's exactly what I was thinking because I know it would lean out. Does anyone have any experience with those DNA mufflers. I've only read a couple of reviews on them and they sounded fairly decent for the money.

for everyone saying theres no gains.. its amazing how many people have them on there trucks. my truck seems to leave the line alil hard... tends to spin all for alil more with the dumps open. which suprizes me alil because you would think it would lean out..but ive yet to run them open at the track untill i get a wide band so i know if i get to lean or not

I'm not saying you won't gain anything and I don't think that's what they were saying either. I asked if I would gain anything without tuning for them. It's like this, if I tune for my exhaust with the dumps closed then open them up it should give SOME gain but not optimize because of less back pressure and could possibly create a lean situation if you're running FI or N2O.
