Hi everybody -

As was leaked on the forum a couple weeks ago I've decided to copy the mounting and plumbing kit I made for my truck to mount a TruCool Max transmission cooler and make it available for sale. With help (and my thanks ) to SS Wrecker we've got the prototype finished and I'm making a few kits this next week.

I expect a few guys will be interested in this product, but I want to guage initial interest, so if this sounds like something you might consider installing in your truck please add your comments to this thread so I can stock-up on enough materials.

FEATURES - totally replaces factory mounting using factory hardware, no drilling holes in your truck. Lightweight and very strong. Plumbing uses precision-bent 3/8" steel lines with inverted flares and compression unions to assure leak-free install which will last the life of the truck. Looks *totally* OEM and very professional, and if you spray a little black BBQ paint over the TruCool the non Silverado guys won't even notice you've got that massive cooler in place, it looks like it came factory. Easy install even for novices, seasoned automotive pros can have this kit/cooler installed in the truck in 20 minutes, and first-timers can be done well inside 1-hour. Only requires a tubing cutter, 10mm socket/ratchet, 10mm wrench, 9/16" wrench, and 5/8" wrench to install. Instructions will be provided but at this moment are not available.

The mounting brackets work on all 1999-2007 trucks whether they had a factory tranny cooler or not; the pre-bent lines will only fit on trucks originally equipped with a factory transmission cooler; if I get a donor truck in my hands which did not have the external cooler I will fab-up lines for that application in the future if the demand is there.

The kit DOES NOT INCLUDE the TruCool Max cooler, you have to get that from a separate source (try eBay, they are going for $120 shipped right now). Pricing will be $55 retail/shipped for the whole kit, or $39 for the brackets only (for those guys wanting to use their own Earls/Russel stainless AN hoses or the hose that comes in the TruCool kit). 10% discounts are available to active silveradoss.com site members, and if you are really pinching pennies you can send your payment via money order and save yourself the 3% paypal fees.

OK - comments and suggestions please, and this is not a goup purchase, I am not soliciting orders I just want to know if you would consider this product for your truck, to guage market demand.

Thanks gents -

Mr. P. :)

If I didn't have full on custom plans for that area of the truck, I would be in for one. The bracketing that you would be making in this kit would interfere with my ultimate layout...

I am going to be replacing the radiator, AC condenser, oil cooler, and tranny cooler with custom ones.

Will you be redesigning the hood latch mount?

Steve is it possible to get just the lines from you? I want to re-do mine since the bends are somewhat kinked, and AN fittings w/braided lines might be over kill to go two feet at best. I have my factory lines cut just under the black plastic shroud behind the bumper.......

No, but I will be changing the configuration so that the tranny cooler takes up half of the radiator (vertically), the ac condenser takes up the other half (vertically), and the oil cooler (if I keep the external one) will be going on the lower (horizontally) 1/8-1/4 or so of all. I am also pondering adding some more fan power (with the extra depth I'll have from this configuration) behind the tranny cooler and condenser (and maybe the oil cooler too if I go totally friggen nuts). Fans would be wired to independant sensors/switches, duh.

Sure but they are pre-bent steel, so your TruCool would have to be located exactly in the same place as where I've mounted mine.

i'm very interested, could we get some pics steve? does the cooler have a fan on it? thanks!

All I am selling is the plumbing and mounting kit. No cooler, no fans - you need to get your own at this moment. But your question makes it clear I better stock/sell a complete 'solution'. We do have an account with SPAL so we can get the 6.5" fans reasonable, and I have the knowledge to make the auxiliary fans come on with the radiator fans, in fact another member here has asked me to build this for him so looks like this might be another possible product direction too albeit an expensive one because if you want forced cooling of the TruCool Max then I would either mount the TC down behind the front bumper, or I would make front-mounted pusher fans that mount in front of the TC; $55 for mounting/plumbing, $120 for TCMax, $225-300 for dual 6.5" fans & mounting & harness - that's getting up to like $500 .

Pics will be coming next week. Thank you for your interest, I am sure you will like what you see.

i've been working on a perma cooler setup for my truck (part# 12315, it comes with 10" pusher fan and automatic thermistor switch) but it needs to be mounted sideways to get the best fit. i was planning on using compression unions as i HATE barbed fittings and hoses. i've already fabed up adaptors so i can retain factory quick connect connections. i eagerly await pics of your setup

Man that is badass right there  Yeah using rubber hose just blows and the stuff they package with the TruCool Max is not even good rubber hose IMO. Come to think of it I'm pretty sure barb fittings & hose clamps are not allowed on ATF lines at NHRA tracks, for good reason.

If I do any more mechanical upgrades, a trans cooler, and the kit to install it, would be at the top of my list. Having pre-fabbed lines and all would make the installation a snap.

perma cooler stuff is available through jegs/summit, they also have wiring kits and thermistors for a clean install, its not crazy expensive, but cheaper than fried trannys in the long run.

steve, I would love to jump on this now but I gotta hold off on mods for this year. if you're still doing them in the spring, this is something that I would most definitely need.
