i was just wondering what other people with built engines are setting for redline ? i am at 6100 right now but think i might go higher would it be safe to rev to 6600 or so ? keep in mind i have heads and cam and blower on a 408

ive taken mine to 6700+ a couple times, i didnt mean too but it happened with about 1000 fwhp

on a 65e to boot.

you need to get it on a dyno first, no need to shift higher if your making peak power below 6k rpms which i guarantee you are with that roots blower.

I'd say you're probably safe to 6700 or so without much problem. I'm not sure your blower would be happy up there though. The Radix's tend to be heat happy up there. What are your cam spec's?

To answer your question, I plan on buzzing 7K at least once or twice :uhoh: My motor peaked at 6350 - 6400 and dropped off sharply at 6900 so I most likely will be shifting 6600-6700.

For you, most likely your built motor will take some higher RPMs however as Zippy stated, your maggie may not like spending too much time up there based on generating heat. Maybe a larger pulley if you plan on shifting so high???
