1 Fast SS Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 I'm debating weather to paint my truck two tone or not. I heard that the SSS might be in demand, but not sure. Some of you guys that work at the dealerships might no more. Would adding things to the exterior to the truck bring the value down? Or would keeping the SSS in stock form be a plus? My truck is garage kept, extremely clean and only has 15k on it, so I was wondering if painting would drop the value of it. What's your opinions? Terry Quote
mcmahan Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 idk man thats hard to say. i want to two tone mine also so i guess this would be good for me to keep up with too.. nice post. Quote
12'SROCK Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 anything but stock for any collectors car/truck brings the value down Quote
1 Fast SS Posted September 11, 2008 Author Report Posted September 11, 2008 I really love this two tone paint job. It's a bad ass paint job!! If fact, it's one our members sig. I'm thinking of painting it just like this, except for the stripe. I might make the stripe alittle different. Just worried about losing value down the road. Quote
6.0vortech Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 That would look mean ass hell go for it! Quote
pimp ss Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 I say go for it if you like it who really cares what other people think I don't think it will be a collector car look at the 454 SS they aren't worth much make the truck the way you like it and that paint job is bad ass Quote

JF-03-SS Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 IMO I don't believe it will ever be a big collecter item, sorry. Paint it and enjoy it. Quote
yttaf Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 for craps & giggles I took mine to a dealer to get a trade in price & they only wanted to give me $11,500 trade in on an 03 with my mods & only 58,000 miles. Said I could get a little more if it was stock. Quote

Corey your such a liar, you did not take it in for sh@# and giggles, you wanted to trade in for an Aveo LT and they wanted you pay more to get in the little SH@# box, so you got pissed and left burning your tires off !! lololol Quote
1 Fast SS Posted September 12, 2008 Author Report Posted September 12, 2008 Yeah, I guess your right. I'm the first and last owner too, but you just never know if something really nice comes out of production. Quote
pimp ss Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Hell Chevrolet can't even get off there ass and produce the camaro so I'd say it is safe to say nothing sweet is coming out any time soon we already have the sweetest thing Chevy offers Quote
misterp Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 If the paint job is tasteful it will not bring down the value of the truck; but it won't add any value either. These trucks are NOT investments. Even if they become 'collectible' 40+ years from now you will never get the money out of it. If 'investment' was ever an initial consideration you should have taken the $30K-40K purchase price of the truck and have put it in REAL investment vehicles for the same 40+ years and then you'd be able to buy a dozen such trucks. I recently went through the same dilema with my '70 Firebird - restore it stock or go wild... I decided to stick to my heart and make it "mine" because even though the value of it will climb from here on out it'll never be worth enough to even cover the costs of restoration. So wild it is Mr. P. Quote
