sdimedude Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 I'm looking to sell some things I have laying around and I have some questions on how you guys go about doing this. How do you give people quotes on shipping? For example I have a sway bar that I want to sell. Does it already have to be packaged and weighed at a Ups store? Quote
NTMD8R_SS Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 You can take it to the store and have it packaged and weighed. For quotes got to ups.com,usps.com, fed-ex.com ect.. and put in the shipping info (zip codes, package demensions, weight ect...) and get a quote from their. Quote

Know the weight and if possibe the package demensions. Over certain demensions they may call it "Oversized" and charge more. On larger/odd shaped items you can also check out Greyhound. (Yes the bus). They have certain um "Stops" "Check points" that they will deliver packages to. And it may only require simple Bubble Wrapping. Then the buyer simply needs to go to that "Stop" for pick up. EG... A Muffler shop in a small town.. Just an example there. Most of the time ppl understand it's a rough cost. As long as your not trying to charge for your time for packaging the item, Materials, and your time to take it to whatever shipping is chosen. It's cool if your a buck or so off, But if you charge say $15.00 and the postage stamp it only $8.00 ppl may frown on that. But if they paid it, they must really want it. Also If you charge "X amount" and come to find out it was much cheaper they you expected. I've had ppl send back a few bucks in the package with a note saying the shipping wasn't as high, here's a kick back.. Your better off to be high and do a "Kick back" rather then only charge $8.00 and come to find out it cost you $12.00 (For example) And remember if you do PayPal. They will charge you 5% to get your $ to the bank. So some/most ppl state to include that 5% if paying with PayPal.. Good Luck! Now.. Whatcha Got? LOL Quote

Well I'm selling some bag parts from my s10 and a couple extra suspension parts. Also I do have paypal, but it has been so long that I don't know how to use it. I'm selling this stuff on a s10 specific forum and I can't figure out how to get the person to pay my paypal account. I don't know what info to give him. Quote
Turbocoop Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 I always just guess what its gonna be and include it in the price. But these days you never know, I just paid $12 to ship a padded 14x12" envelope to california which is ridiculous. Quote
