mike1booth Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 i have a squeek at cold idle and a low squeel when i get on it... i think its the belt what do you think? Quote
Fireman31 Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 (edited) most likely the belt, but it could be caused by a components bearings going bad(i.e. water pump, alternator).......is it the original belt? Edited September 18, 2008 by Fireman31 (see edit history) Quote
DGIEPSS Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 you can try spraying a little silicone on it to see if the noise goes away Quote
montanass Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 just change the belt.. its quick, easy and most often done only when there is a problem. IMO... i would change the belt every 45-50k miles just to prevent any mishaps Quote
mike1booth Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 as far is i know its orig and the truck has 36k on it so ill change it and see what happins Quote
Badkarma Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Goodyear Gatorback belts are your friend Quote
Bad Bowtie Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Before you install that new Goodyear Gatorback belt, try turning each of your accessory pulleys by hand & listen for that noise. Quote
mike1booth Posted September 19, 2008 Author Report Posted September 19, 2008 yea ill play with it, hopefully its just the belt Quote
black00chev Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Could just be the idler pulley squeeking a little like when it first starts up... might just need to regrease that. New belt couldnt hurt though. Quote
