chopperman69 Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 I pulled out of the driveway Monday morning and I heard a "crunch" sound (like I ran over something) but obviously didn't. I then heard a "grinding" sound almost like I was dragging something. As soon as the truck shifted into 2nd, the sound was gone. It has made this sound a few times since, but it's not consistant. This is an '02 Silverado with a 4.8L and a 4L60E. The sun shell went out under warranty and was replaced by the dealer with supposedly upgraded parts. I do have billet servos installed and a deeper/finned pan. Is it time to upgrade to the 4L80E or is this something I might be able to fix by dropping the pan? Thanks Quote
Fireman31 Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 can you get us a sound clip of this? Quote
chopperman69 Posted September 25, 2008 Author Report Posted September 25, 2008 can you get us a sound clip of this? No sound clip available, but it sounds like you dumped a bunch of bolts in the clothes dryer and turned it on when in 1st gear and reverse. I've done a little research and spoken with a few shops and everyone agrees it's a broken planetary... It's looking like a conversion to a 4L80E is just not feasible at this time with all of the extras involved. PCM flash, driveshaft mods, crossmember, etc. I can't be without my truck for this long. If it wasn't my daily driver... Quote
Fireman31 Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 In that case you are probably better off getting it rebuilt........ Quote
