Can A Dealer Tell If You Have "tuned?"

That is unless your PCM is locked so that the dealer cannot gain access to the program.......yes they'll know it's tuned since it's locked, but they cannot screw with it. Only and absolute Einstein with a Tech2 will be able to crack it(rare).

its actually not hard at all to tell if a pcm has been tuned. when the tech2 is plugged into the vehicle, and service programing is selected, and vehicle info requested, the programing calibration numbers are displayed on on a pc screen, if the calibration number doesnt match any of the ones listed by gm, then its an "unsupported" cal. number. checking for this takes about 3 min., however unless you show up with mechanical damage like a couple other guys mentioned, no flat rate tech would waste his time checking.

Even at what you are turning, that calculates to 50.7 MPH in 1st gear and 96.8 MPH in second, assuming you are running 3.73 gears and 275/55R20 tires. That's pretty good.

That's pretty close Mike, with the 3.73 and stock 20's, it's around 48mph 1st and 92 in 2nd. I just click into 3rd before crossing the line, trapping around 95-96mph.

5800 in first gear should get your 2004 SS up to 43.9 MPH if you are running 275/55R20 tires. I believe the stock tune will only let you rev to 5600, which will get you to 42.4 MPH.

Also keep in mind that these speeds are hypothetical, since the torque converter allows slippage. This means that you will see the RPM sooner than the MPH that corresponds (if no slippage occurred).

If you keep your stock PCM and swap in a tuned one will you have to do a CASE re-learn each time you swap them back and fourth, or just the one time when installing the tuned one for the first time?

you only have to do the SECURITY relearn once on the new tuned PCM....once a PCM has been in your vehicle, you should not have to do another re-learn
