Wizard Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Well in ten days the car is off the frame and on a rotisserie. Should go to media blast next week. So far the plan is C6 corvette front suspension, and custom frame with mini tub for 20 or 22" rear wheels on four link. Dont let the surface rust fool ya, its really solid. I will keep with the updates. Man I am excited, barely sleep thinking about this car. Wiz Quote
black00chev Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Keep us updated man! I wish me and my dad could ever get our '64 (yes I'll admit it) Ford Galaxie done. No time anymore these days. Quote

Wizard Posted September 23, 2008 Author Report Posted September 23, 2008 So the motor choice is an LS7 or LS2/3. Possibly a Procharged one at that. Car will get cage, but a very discreet one that tucks tight to the inside of the body. Looking for wrecked Vette or GTO to pull motor and trans. Would love to do an LS7 but they are huge bucks compared on what a guy can get an LS2 for. Car is getting the last of the floor removed that doesn't need to go to sandblast then off it goes to become shiny unpainted silver metal. Will post pics when done. Wiz Quote
04CHASE Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 the vette suspension is sick , i know some have got them to hit 1g on a skid pad. for the motor , id honestly build a 408/418 from an ls3 block , texas speed has some good deals. put a nice bump stick in it , some cutous and possibly set it up for a bottle. the sound of a high compression stroker ls motor is awesome. SSmoothSilSS Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 Looks good Doug, that looks like a lot of work, I'm looking after the begining of the year, for one that complete. If you see one that a good deal let me know. Clay Quote

Wizard Posted October 29, 2008 Author Report Posted October 29, 2008 (edited) Update... Got the car delivered today back from media blaster. No suprises, rust is exactly what we thought. Got a bite on a LS2 and 6 speed. Hoping that will pan out. The frame is under construction. I have decided to go with an all Stainless tube chassis, that is being fabricated as we speak. We figured it would save 250lbs in weight, including the cage. Stainless has a higher tensile strength and the finish options are endless. We are going to scotchbright the tubes for a finish, contrasted against a high gloss black floor, should look pretty tits... A bit up in the air about wheels, looking at Budnik, and Billet Specialties. Have decided on a 20x12 rears and a 19x10 in the front. (any you guys got any connections to either of these companies?) The rear tire should be a 345. Yeah a big one.. Rearend is going to be a Winters quick change, awesome looking housing and aluminum covers. The gearsets are really cheap. Interior looks like a new GTO interior with the seats cut down, and the rear benchlike buckets cut into the back. Well just a little news for those who care. I will post the blasted body pics from my camera phone in a little bit.. Thanks Wiz Edited October 29, 2008 by Wizard (see edit history) Quote
