In your case, you need to use a fuel that is 91 octane or higher. GM recommends the

use of premium fuel in the SSS. The engine(LQ9) in the SSS has 10:1 compression, so in other

words a low octane fuel will create knock/detonation which will hurt fuel economy and power.

I run premium fuel or E85 in all of my vehicles. In an SSS you shouldn't run anything less than 91 octane as it is factory programmed for it. Trust me, anything less and you will end up in the low octane table. It will appear to be running fine, after all it's just fuel. If you actually log the truck though you'll see that timing is reduced as well as KR* is happening.

91 here, if you can truely call it 91 that is. with +/- whateve this crappy state allows. you never know what your getting for fuel these days.

I ran 91 for about 6 months.. But I finally found a station wth 93. So to answer your question. I'm running 93 now :D

It's a few miles out of the way. It's unbranded but it's the same price or less then the 91 that's in town.
