Jim Coher Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 (edited) I can't get rid of my CEL. It would come on once in a while then go right back off so i wasn't too concerned. In the past 6 months it's been on most of the time. I codes were 300 and 446 so I searched the site and tried the sea foam treatment, put AC plugs and bosh wires, a new fuel tank vent solenoid, and I even put new converters put in a few months ago. I still get the same codes. I had it checked on a Snap On Modus, same 2 codes and it showed mis fires an all cylinders. The truck runs good and it only blinked once for a few seconds but the lite stays on most of the time. Another problem I just noticed is my volume button on the steering column changes the radio station ad my mirrors won't adjust. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the CEL but things are getting worse instead of better. Where do I go from here ????? Edited September 24, 2008 by Jim Coher (see edit history) Quote
Fireman31 Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 I don't think any of your problems are related. The P0446 could be from a faulty gas cap, the P0300 could be from a dirty or faulty MAF. While your at it, clean your TB also. Quote
Jim Coher Posted September 24, 2008 Author Report Posted September 24, 2008 Thanks for the input. I tried a new cap and it didn't help. I'll clean the MAF and TB. Fireman31 Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 make sure that the filler neck isn't kinked, check the actual purge vent valve..........you may wind up having to replace the entire vapor canister Quote
slammedbowtie Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 yeah sounds like the radio and mirrors are something different. when you fill your truck up does the nozzle constantly click off. like its full but its not? or alot of pressure come out when you unscrew the cap? if so its your canister. easy fix. if not. i would say cats. but you replaced them already Quote
Jim Coher Posted September 25, 2008 Author Report Posted September 25, 2008 I have no problems when I fill the tank, everything seems normal, no pressure when I take the cap off, the cats are only a couple months old and the cap is new. I don't know what the hell is going on. Jim Coher Posted September 25, 2008 Author Report Posted September 25, 2008 I haven't had a chance to check out the MAF or TB but the Check enginge Lite started flashing for about 30 seconds then stayed on steady like always. I hope to work on it over the weekend. Quote

Jim Coher Posted September 26, 2008 Author Report Posted September 26, 2008 (edited) Is it possible the cats are bad from the dealer? I had them put in at the dealer on 6/25. They cost me $ 550 A flashing SES light is no bueno, usually signifies a problem with your cats........ Edited September 26, 2008 by Jim Coher (see edit history) Quote

Tony-CA Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 Since you cant feel the misfire and all cylinders misfire counters are counting up Id try a crankshaft variation relearn procedure first. Did you have this done after the custom PCM install? The P0446 relates to the vent portion of the evap system being blocked. You may have a plugged canister. Quote
Jim Coher Posted September 27, 2008 Author Report Posted September 27, 2008 I had to do a relearn for the new PCM. It wouldn't run until I went through a procedure that took almost a half hour. Was that the same as the crank shaft variation relearn you are refering to. Really the best way to check them is to remove them and visually inspect them. The re-learn you performed was a security re-learn, not a crank re-learn. AFAIK, a crank re-learn has to be done either with a Tech2 at the dealer or with a Snap-On Modus at an independant shop. Your cats are warrantied 8years/80k by federal mandate even though they were already replaced. Have the dealer check them again. I also still think that you may have a dirty or defective MAF. Quote

A friend of mine has a Modus, if the MAF doesn't fix the problem I'll have him do the relearn. I hope he knows how.
