Lefty Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 So, I have been in Wyoming for a week. Upon my return, I notice that I had a couple large grease blobs all over my driver's side front wheel. A quick inspection proves the culprit is a bushing. Although, I am not sure what the bushing is called or what "part" of the suspension it is. So, what part am I looking at? Thanks Quote
nova72 Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 (edited) that is you left outer tie-rod end. did you just recently have your truck serviced? prolly a little too much grease, just wipe with rag, should be fine, unless its broken, hard to really tell with the pic Edited September 24, 2008 by nova72 (see edit history) Quote
kelleyperformance Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 thats the tie rod end, and its busted. you need a new one and an alignment. Quote
Fireman31 Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 (edited) Thats common when you over-grease your tie-rods, I have had that happen too. It's hard to tell by the pic whether or not it's broken...... Edited September 24, 2008 by Fireman31 (see edit history) Quote
Lefty Posted September 24, 2008 Author Report Posted September 24, 2008 Well shoot. I just had new rubber put on and an alignment done a coupe weeks ago. The truck has been in the garage (at the house) since. Thx for you help gents. Quote
kelleyperformance Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 i could be wrong, it could just be over-greased. go look at it, clean it off with a rag and see if the rubber boot is torn or smashed, etc. if so, then youd need replace and not a full alignment. just a toe adjustment. only take a few mins Quote
Krambo Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 (edited) I have a bad habit of over-stuffing my tie rod ends and end up with some grease splatter. I need to get a good grease gun, sometimes mine will do a full pump and overload the puppy and other times it will take like 10 pumps. POS! I would wipe all o that grease off and give the rubber boot a gentle squeeze to see if you have a tear or it actually separated from the seat. palletyard Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 from the 2,3,4 pics looks like the dust guard behind the rotor cut that sucker Quote
