SSThunder Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 OK. My buddy bought a sony DVD burner/VCR cpmbo. I burned some old VCR tapes onto the DVDs but they won't play in my ps3 or dvd/vcr combo I have. I was wonding if I can upgrade the ps3 software or if the issue is a hardware issue? Is the type of DVD a problem? He used DVD-R I think. What's the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R? Quote
kelleyperformance Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 sometimes many DVD players wont read burned DVDs. have you tried them in a PC to see if they even worked? Quote

skeet Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 from the ps3 forums : These are all of the playable discs according to the manual: Blu-ray Disc (BD) PLAYSTATION®3 format BD-ROM BD-ROM BD-R BD-RE* DVD PlayStation®2 format DVD-ROM DVD-ROM DVD+R/RW DVD-R/RW AVCHD CD PlayStation®2 format CD-ROM PlayStation® format CD-ROM CD-DA (audio CD) CD-R/RW if not mistaken NERO will burn the dvd properly, using the correct Decrypter needed..
