packjh Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Cant wait to see it when your done. I dont think i could stand to see a cage in my truck unless it was powdercoated black. Quote
black00chev Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 (edited) Pro-link FTW!!! Id love to be helpin build that, after all... Its what I went to school for! Looking awesome!! EDIT: Forgot to ask, what kind of tubing your using for the cage and frame? Edited September 30, 2008 by black00chev (see edit history) Quote
Professiona1 m0d Posted September 30, 2008 Author Report Posted September 30, 2008 I can't wait either! I haven't driven the truck in a year! I am dying here. And the cage is going to be powder coated black too. Quote
Professiona1 m0d Posted September 30, 2008 Author Report Posted September 30, 2008 Thanks black00chev, haha, I wish I had your help, maybe it would go faster! Quote
04CHASE Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 are they going to coat it then weld it in? whats the poerplant going to be? im surious to see how the cage comes out if you plan on keeping the rear seat. if it passes tech for 10.0-11.49 ill be impressed. Quote
black00chev Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Thanks black00chev, haha, I wish I had your help, maybe it would go faster! Yea I liked doin that stuff in class. Miss welding but dont miss welding those small areas. Are you going to anchor the rear bar from the backside at all, or you going to keep the rear seats? Quote
Professiona1 m0d Posted September 30, 2008 Author Report Posted September 30, 2008 To answer your question Chase and black00chev, the rear seat has not been in there for over a year and there were no plans of putting it back in. It will get powder coated first, and then welded to the frame, those are just tack welds at the moment. The power plant that it will be running is my current setup, a 408 stroker with a roots blower. It made 602 RWHP with a two piece driveshaft, however, it will now be replaced by a one piece driveshaft. I am hoping to see slight gains from the less rotational mass of the new one piece. Also new to the motor is nitrous, but only a maximum 100 shot, which is mainly going to be used to cool the intake charge. After all said and done, it will be certified for as low as 8.50. It is an 8 point roll cage, with NON removable door bars. And yes, two rear bars will be coming down to the frame, however, since it is an extended cab, I have enough room not to have to run it out of the back window, it will go underneath the window so that it will be hidden, and look somewhat of a sleeper. Although obviously if you were to look from the back and see the quick change and slicks, or from the side and see the 4-link, it would be a dead give away. I just like the clean look of having a square cab and a square bed, with no bars coming out of the window on an angle. Quote
black00chev Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Yea man, that thing should look sweet. Id say p-coat all the 4-link stuff black so you cant see it under there without trying. Quote
Professiona1 m0d Posted September 30, 2008 Author Report Posted September 30, 2008 Actually, that's a great idea black! I hadn't planned anything as of yet with that, I might just do it! Quote
