SSS Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 2003 Chev SS, 100K. No mods. Oil pressure "bounces" 20 psi then settles at normal at idle or low throttle increase. With rapid continued high RPM oil pressure goes to 0. Back to idle and RPM comes back to normal. Suggestions? Quote
Fireman31 Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Have you checked your oil? Any unusual noises when this is going on? Sounds like you have a bad oil pressure sensor switch or a faulty guage cluster. Quote
SSS Posted September 30, 2008 Author Report Posted September 30, 2008 Oil is clean, recently replaced new Fram filter. No unusual noises. Could it be the Fram? Quote
mike1booth Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 filter wont do it... check the connections at the oil pressure sending unit.. if theres no corrosion replace the sending unit, electric sending units go bad all the time and make guys think there loosing their bottom end when its a $7 part Quote

Not that I have confidence in Checker getting the correct part number. Anyone have the right part number? Quote
CoolBlueSS Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 Some of the ones for older cars are cheap. $65 sounds right, because GM list is $62.49. Quote
