Low Oil Pressure At High Rpm

2003 Chev SS, 100K. No mods. Oil pressure "bounces" 20 psi then settles at normal at idle or low throttle increase. With rapid continued high RPM oil pressure goes to 0. Back to idle and RPM comes back to normal. Suggestions?

Have you checked your oil? Any unusual noises when this is going on? Sounds like you have a bad oil pressure sensor switch or a faulty guage cluster.

Oil is clean, recently replaced new Fram filter. No unusual noises. Could it be the Fram?

filter wont do it... check the connections at the oil pressure sending unit.. if theres no corrosion replace the sending unit, electric sending units go bad all the time and make guys think there loosing their bottom end when its a $7 part

Where do I find this part for $7 - Checker Auto wants $65...... Not that I have confidence in Checker getting the correct part number.

 

Anyone have the right part number?

What brand of oil are you using?

Some of the ones for older cars are cheap. $65 sounds right, because GM list is $62.49.
