NashSS Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 Well my SS is my DD and its has been pretty cold but not the coldest yet and today before I went to work I started the truck to let it warm up and when I got into the truck I noticed all gauges were near the bottom like the truck isn't running. so my first thought is great, time for a dealership cluster change and I don't know how much gas is in my truck (Crap) but luckily the range sill worked but I shut the truck off and then restarted it and they all came to life, so off to work I went and tonight afterwards I turned the key over the run and let the truck get itself ready and to watch the needles and I seen the gas gauge move but nothing else so I started it and nothing, so I shut it off again and restarted it and once again they all came to life. I don't know if this has anything to do with the cold weather we are having or my cluster is going out and I did seach but didn't find the answer to my question and I figured you guys would be able to tell me for sure. FYI truck only has about 34k miles on it. Thanks. Quote
F1SSS Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 Dont know if this helps, but I had my cluster changed twice. Reason for change 1-speedo was stuck past 120mph. After the first change, I went straight to the gas station after the fix and added half a tank (12 gallons). For some reason the new gas was not registering on the gas guage (which still read empty). Every other needle still worked. I called the dealership when I got home. The gas needle came back once or twice over 2-3 days after, but they swapped it out. No problems since. I honestly cant remember what time of year it was and if it was cold or not, but we do dip into single digits. Quote
Rausche Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 I don't know if it's coincidence or not, but just recently my battery gauge started telling me that I'm running on about 30volts... Luckily the Aeroforce gauges are there for reference. The problem didn't start until it got cold, so who knows? Quote
NashSS Posted December 23, 2008 Author Report Posted December 23, 2008 that's why I'm wondering. We have had colder the past month and they worked just fine though it was no near warm last night. If it continues I will just call them and have them replace it. Quote
zippy Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 There is a special policy on this and GM will pay to fix it. In the cold weather the 03' and 04' clusters don't work very well. It's good to 70K. Quote
F1SSS Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 My truck is basically sitting in the garage off the road for the winter. I do start it up every other day for for a full warm up (then driveway tour) and keep close tabs on all guages. Everything going well so far @ 64k. Quote
