SuperStock
I just ordered the JBA titanium ceramic coated headers an i am not sure what type of gaskets i should use? And are they complicated to install?
Fireman31
Use OE GM 3 part metal shim manifold gaskets, the best you can get....... Headers are not that hard to install, just a little time consuming. Make sure to get some anti-seize compound for the new header bolts. Also you should start spraying down the old manifold bolts with some WD40 a week or so before installation....if you are planning to replace your spark plugs, now is a good time to do it. Fireman31
yea i am going to either buy the JBA or MSD wires and use the factory plugs I recommend the Taylor "409" wires since they have a short plug boot, the MSDs have a long plug boot which sometimes contact the primaries causing a problem...... Also be careful when installing the headers that you dont crack a spark plug, you may want to remove them so that this doesnt happen...... Jond983
i have a few tips to help you....GET A FRIEND TO HELP YOU!! I cannot stress that enough!. take out the plastic wheel well make a lot more room. remove the spark plugs, remove your oil dipstick. When you take out the dipstick. Spin it, don't jiggle it. It breaks off pretty easy.**while you take out the oil dipstick and u accidently touch the starter it will weld it to what ever the dipstick is grounding**. unplug your battery. have your friend help you so he can hand you the headers from under the truck and you can arrange them where they need to be. oh and if your friend is kind enough to help you unbolt the stock manifolds and bolt the new headers on, make sure you get on the passenger side first. they are alot easier to get to than on the drivers side. no special tools. i think i used a 15mm, 13mm, spark plug socket and wratchet extention and an adjustable wrench in one or two spots. if u have air tools you'll get through with the install twice as fast. all in all they're not really that bad. Fireman31
Your local Chevy dealer should have those gaskets in stock. I would advise against using airtools on the old manifold flange bolts and the new header flange bolts due to the fact that you have alluminum cylinder heads. Stripping the threads is much easier then you think.......
