slowfive0
What’s the fastest someone has gone with an extended cab GM pickup with the Magnacharger 112 head unit? It seems like most “normal” running setups with the usual bolts ons (cam, exhaust, small converter, etc) are running mid 12’s. The better running setups (tune and other things optimized better) are running bottoms 12’s. However, I haven’t seen many in the 11’s. I can only think of one and he has a 5.3……… What combos are you aware of---no Nitrous. Thanks.
Krambo
I have a fistfull of high 11 second Radix timeslips if you are interested (no nitrous). I am working with Ed Mack (SSS) and he is oh so close to the 11's (12.08) with a similar set-up that I had. He just added a nitrous kit so 11's should be easily attained now...as long as the pistons don't cry. EDIT: Some slips and video: There are some (non SSS trucks) ECSB trucks that are spraying on top of the magnacharger that are mid to low 11's with the quickest of an 11.3 IIRC. slowfive0
Anyone of these guys tuning with HPTuners that would be willing to share a file or some info? Thanks. slowfive0
Also, were these times done in "street" trim. In other words, the normal tires and wheels you drive around on, no weight removal, race gas, etc? Very impressive. To be honest, I was really considering going to a centrifigal. I've always had good luck with them and I like the power they make, but if this blower will go elevens, then I'll probably hold on to it. I took it to the track with its current tune (detuned due to fuel pressure problem) and it went 13.10 after cooling down for 4 hours in 78 degree weather. Hot lapping it earlier in the day returned 13.60-13.80 performance. Pathetic. I don't expect it to run 13.10's or whatever hot lapping it, but 1/2 or more drop!!! SUCKS. To be fair, the tune in it pulls a ton of timing based off of engine temp. If the engine temp is cooler 145-160ish IIRC, it was giving about 17^ timing. If I took the engine temp up to around 180-190....it was only getting around 10-11. Obviously, that is a good part of my performance drop, but I'm afraid to change those tables much for fear of blowing my junk up. If I could see some examples of some 11 or low 12 tunes, that would help immensely! I also understand if people don't want to share their secrets/hard work. Any help would be most appreciated though---Thanks. P.S. Krambo, your trucks sounds bad ASS!!! Especially now! How big is that cam--lol. slowfive0
Anyone? I'd like to start tweaking on the tune so I can go the track this weekend---thanks.
Krambo
Also, were these times done in "street" trim. In other words, the normal tires and wheels you drive around on, no weight removal, race gas, etc? Not entirely street trim. I change out my wheels for drag radials in the video. Other than that, the truck weighed about 5400lbs...no race gas, just 93 pump and 50/50 meth sprayed on top of it. Very impressive. To be honest, I was really considering going to a centrifigal. If you are afraid of blowing it up, you will have a hard time getting into the 11's IMHO. It takes alot to make your combo work for you which means alot of 1/4 mile runs / dyno time to find the sweet spot. There are a bunch of very low 12 sec 112 Radix trucks on this board. I am willing to bet that there are many 11 sec ones as well however they do not post here. Take Niko, he is going to the track on Friday where he should be in the 12s with just a Radix 112, 2.8" pulley, shift kit, cat-back and CAI. Look for his times to be posted after this weekend. Cam in the new idle vid is 248/254, .615"/.622", 112 LSA.
slowfive0
Are any of you seeing any knock retard at any time during your runs. I'm seeing a couple of degrees.
sprayed99
Are any of you seeing any knock retard at any time during your runs. I'm seeing a couple of degrees. seeing KR on a scan and pinging is 2 totally different things. If you have audible knock then its pinging if not it could probably false knock. Krambo
Are any of you seeing any knock retard at any time during your runs. I'm seeing a couple of degrees. If you read my post on PT.net that I replied to you a while ago with, you will see that I stated "if you are willing to push through some KR running 21*...). I would see no KR at 19* however when I pushed it to 20-21*, I would get KR however a noticeable bump in performance (shown on the dyno AND the track). So, if you are willing to "push through" the KR by de-sensitizing the knock sensors, you will go faster however lose that safety margin. Be careful and listen to your motor if you do this approach. slowfive0
I did see that and now I see what you mean. The truck felt faster, but when it hit 3rd, I though I heard some pinging and I shut it down. This was only 3 degrees KR on the log. Obviously, the higher gears load the motor down more hence the increased knock. At 19, I get a little KR here and there, but it seems manageable and I never hear it. I would like to leave the 21 in there, but I'm hesitant... Did you try cutting in some race gas into your 93 octane?
