kcsilveradoss Posted July 3, 2009 Report Share Posted July 3, 2009 tonight my family and i were on the way home on the highway and met up with what appeared to be a new mercedes cl55 amg. he went flying around a car so i figured we could get next to him just to play.we never seem to see any fast cars when we are in the ss, so i decided to try my luck. i think it was new as it had a dealer tag on it still and was flawless. anywho, we went from a roll about 65-95, he only got me by about 1-1/2 cars. now from what i read on the net, these are a blown 5.5 litre engine with 493 horsepower. what gives? we had the windows down, so i KNOW he was in it hard.....i'm 100 percent sure i read the badges correctly... He obviously felt that there was some hidden factor that allowed him to be so close to the benz. ...and you raced with kids in the car? bad idea and "family" does not always mean kids. this is a perfect example of why some people do not like it when someone throws a SS badge on a non SS truck. if some ricer pulls a LS that has SS badges, well guess what? the punk thinks he pulled an SS. I ran a BMW 335i on the highway last year on my way home from the track, two guys pulled up beside me and when traffic cleared we both rolled at the speed limit then he pounded it and I went with him. We ran hard to 120+ mph a few times. I pulled very slowly on him each time. A BMW 335i should be pulling on ME. He had two people in the car but they were both small, and I'm 220+, so I don't think it was the weight difference... not sure what was wrong with him, maybe a little pedal nervous, or...? LOL I don't think it's limited to expensive cars to be honest, I know quite a few guys who own cars who get angry if I just SUGGEST they race a truck. I had a ClubCab Dodge with a 440 that people were insulted when I suggested they line up with their cars, and I know quite a few guys who WILL NOT race a newer truck, doesn't matter what kind of truck it is.
