prochargedgmc
Okay I just installed a 160 thermostat and I have some aftermarket electric fans my problem is that my truck is running inbetween 210 and 240 and it is really bothering me. I also have a 3 core intercooler front mount that may be hurting the flow. Do you think it could be a air bubble in the radiator line or the fans can't keep up or what any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks guys in advance
12'SROCK
did you reprogram your e fans to accommodate the 160 t stat?
prochargedgmc
Well there not run through the PCM I just have them coming on off of a switch that has a probe you stick through the ratiator core, by the way I had a 180 before and it ran a little warm to but I'm out at the lake and I pulled two jetskies out and it ran about 225 the hole way out and now just sitting it will run a little over
Fireman31
Did you purge the air our of the system after re-filling the coolant? Sounds to me like you may have air in the system.....
mcmahan
bleed the air out then see if that fixed it. did you get a custom tune for the t-stat?
prochargedgmc
Ya my tune is setup for it but I didn't Bleed the air out do I just take off one of the top radiator hoses

Krambo
Are you using the FAL (Flex-a-lite) VSC with the probe? Those probes go bad quite often causing the fans to come on much higher that the set-point you chose in th VSC. Call the manufacturer of the fans and ask what resistance at 75*F should be for the probe and then check the probe with a multi-meter to see how close you are. IIRC, when I was using a VSC and probe, the correct resistance was supposed to be like 7k ohms and I was seeing 15k. I bought a new probe for $25 and all was well. Seriously, sink a little money into a PCM harness and have your tuner enable your fans to be controlled by the PCM. That is the true fix IMHO. prochargedgmc
Okay my truck is still getting hot these are the electric fans i have has anyone else tried this brand and if so how are they on your truck Thanks Guys http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GMC-SIERRA-...sQ5fAccessories
Black2003SS
Fan CFM is kind of low...I have the Flex-a-lites that are 5500CFM and those ones on ebay are only 3000cfm. While that may be sufficient for a stock vehicle, we have intercoolers and such that migh require more cfm. My truck only gets up to 200* if I run my A/C and sit in traffic in 90* heat. Towing, it doesnt get that hot.
prochargedgmc
So is flexalite the best brand to go with or is there something else
Black2003SS
I would say no to Flex A lite (FAL). FAL is expensive and I have already had to replace the motors on both fans at over $100 a motor. I think the GM electric fans would be the best with a harness to the PCM, perhaps even discuss with Mr P what the costs/capabilities are of the kit him and some other members are putting together and selling on here. I am very disappointed in the FAL as far as quality goes, but I am vested and they do the job. I just hope I dont have to replace motors again. The last ones only lasted about a year and 25k miles. 12'SROCK
OEM fans and harness is the best route to go with IMHO
