smithl3
Gauging interest, I have a spare 6.0 Liter long block engine out of my 2003 that I never finished rebuilding. The original motor (stock) lost oil pressure after about 20,000 miles and long story short after tearing it out it spun a cam bearing. I got a new crate engine installed in the truck and in the mean time I tore into the old engine. During disassembly, one of the head bolts (I guess they are stretch to yield bolts) broke off into the block. The block was sent to a machine shop, the bolt was drilled out and one GM threaded insert was installed, the motor was professionally gone over, dressed, honed and new cam bearings installed. I have gotten to the point of the short block being assembled with new cam and main bearings, piston rings and stopped. I have a gasket kit and the other parts, like the heads, intake valley cover, oil pan, etc. are sitting next to it waiting to be put on. I no longer have an interest in building a spare to sit in my garage and would like it to have a new home. I stopped building it a year or so ago and have covered the engine and parts with silicone grease and plastic wrapped them. *I do not have a throttle body, cast headers, electronics, coils, injectors, spark plugs, engine covers, etc. as I basically replaced the long block itself when I got a new one in the truck* Make a reasonable offer. I am located in upstate NY and would prefer to meet someone to drop off short block and remaining parts than have to crate and ship, as I would have to finish assembling….. Thanks

delay18
What are you looking to get for it and where are you located? I may be interested if the price is right. Edit: You are only about 30-45 minutes from me. Let me know on price. Edited September 30, 2009 by delay18 (see edit history)

Edit: You are only about 30-45 minutes from me. Let me know on price. I know a short block is worth $2,000 and a long block is more like $3,000. I would like to get $2,250 for it considering it isn't assembled. I figured for some people this would be helpful because they would probobly take it apart anyways to look at the internals. Let me know if you want to come look at it or make an offer. Thanks.
smithl3
I forgot to ask, is that a ZR1 in your sig? I saw about 10 of them in a row a few weeks back at the Lake George Car show..... I had to pick my jaw off the ground after seeing a million bucks drive by me! I'll trade you the motor for that car straight up if you want! haha.

Def not mine. I know exactly what you mean. I was at that show. They were all over the place up there. Nationals is def a killer show! I got a decent cell pic of my SS and a ZR-1 at Stewart's after the cruise. Just happened to pull in and park next to it cause it was the only spot left lol. I will let you know about the motor. Not to go even farther off topic but are you going to the LVD thing in a few weeks. I know there are a few members from the area. I was seeing who wanted to ride up together. Yeah, I am planning on going to the LVD meet for sure. I am loading my buddy's hyabusa and driving up with him, but I am sure I could find room for the engine and all the parts if you want me to bring it down to you

Thanks. used long blocks with low mileage (under10K) sell for 1500-1800 on avg. with all the accessories and intake. new long blocks you can find for 2650-2800. I would say its worth 1750ish IMO. thats with about 10 minutes surfing the web. I am going to be kicking myself for getting rid of this I am sure down the road, but can't justify money sitting in the corner..... Considering it is re-machined new bearings and gaskets and better than 10,000 miles it is worth more IMO. I am up for reasonable numbers. I can drive within 3 hours and pick up 5 different LQ9s with under 10K on them for 1500-1800.... 2 of them for 1800 and 1750 have a harness and PCM. Just giving you an idea of what an acceptable offer would be. Who assembled the short block? My father is a service manager at a Chevy dealership for 25 years now and grew up in detroit as a mechanic, so I had constant oversight from one of the best I can imagine....
