Porno Joe
When you first switch from lows to his, are you lights practically off they are so dim? I know HIDs need to warm up, but this seems a bit extreme to me. Also, as its warming up, the one headlight will flicker a bit. takes about ten seconds or so til the lights are on fully is this normal? brobradh77
I don't HID highs but that doesn't souund right to me..maybe a bad ballast?
Porno Joe
well this is a brand new kit, just installed saturday. BOTH lights are so dim you cant even tell they are on when you first switch
diggerdan11
I use to have HID Highs and i had the same problem. so its not your Ballasts. It just takes a second for them to warm up. Once my ballast did go out i just decided to not replace them, it was annoying. The dims do the same thing and when my brights were on for a long time when i switched to the dims it would be almost dark and i almost wrecked so i got the 4 high mod. jlosh20s
mine do same shit but atleast i have the headlight mod that when i turn my highs on my fogs and lows stay on (all hids) therefore when i switch to my highs im not in darkness til they warm up

Punisher
Wow I have HID low & high beams and that never happens. Sounds like that ballast is trash or whoever making those kits makes trashy products. Ballasts should never take that much load, thats why they are ballasts... brobradh77
What makes the highs do that? My lows never sputter or anything
Punisher
What makes the highs do that? My lows never sputter or anything It doesn't matter if it is high beams or low beams. The flickering is caused by the ballast shorting. Usually a trash ballast or a wiring problem.
Stitches040
For the Flickering ... see above As for the High Beam HID to Low beam HID warmup ... I cured it with the $1.00 Diode jump ...
mcmahan
same thing here too its a pain. thats why i did the 4 light high beam mod that way i allways have lights on my low beams are warm when i hit the high beams on that was my solution to that problem
Porno Joe
I did the 4 hi mod and it makes it better, but yeah Im thinkin these high beam ballasts were DOA. i ordered hi's and low's (my dad and I both have an SS). dad already had lows, they worked well, I put my lows in, they work well, I put his in, when you first put on the highs without the 4 hi mod, u cant see anything
