Southpawgrip
I went to a local Chevy dealer in Dallas and they had a black and a blue SS. They marked up the price $10,000. Total price was a little over $50,000. They even wrote on the price sticker that the reason for the markup was due to the market demand. So those of you who got one for around 40k made out pretty good. But........ There was a problem I saw with the trucks though. I took a look underneath and I was amazed to fined RUST! The rear axles already had a surface rust and the u-joint connecting the drive shaft to the axle housing was rusted. The front spindles were covered with rust. I had a 98 Chevy ext cab sportside that had the same surface rust on the rear axle housing and it ate right through the paint. Watch out guys. Before you drive off the lot you might want to see what will come back to haunt you in a few years. Good luck! Grip

Grip I guess you have not looked under that many vehicles, all have rust on parts that are not coated, painted or protected from the elements. As for an axle housing it would take more years that we are alive to eat through. If you are like me, you will put the vehicle up on a lift and detail the things that you have pointed out. Don't rap the SS because you are disipointed in the price, that dealer is not the only one you can purchase from. Read this site, you can order one from a fellow called Ron. Check it out. Don't give up. Good luck to you!
impalarasser
if your paying 50,000 for an SS you are getting ripped off. today i went to look at a SS and they offered 3,000 in discounts and incenntives and were willing to go for less then the window price of 41,000. i hope to god that you didn't buy one for 50,000. shawn_butler
There have been about five or six SS on ebay at sticker and none have sold. One was in Dallas you may want to check out the completed items on ebay to get the location. I am paying 35,000 for mine, minus the 3,000 rebate and 3,200 dealer discount. I think some dealers are trying to gouge, but it is not working. I think the economy is helping us out right now.

andythompson005
I just got back from Stevinson Chevrolet in Denver, CO. They have the only SS in the state (as far as I know). Their SS is black and fully loaded. I must say the SS photos don't do it justice ...it is bad ass in person! I like the wheels alright...they would definately look better chromed or polished and if they got rid of that cheap plastic center cap with fake hex-screw head stickers on them. The SS has a nice sounding exhaust note although I would prefer it a little throatier and louder. The floor mats also look like crap. They don't match the carpet or anything else in the cab for that matter. I also found it interesting that on the tailgate the "Silverado under the SS badge is a sticker!! It seems to me for a 40 k truck they wouldn't cut corners. Even with all my gripes, I love this truck!!! It really makes that other brand of trucks look like crap. Stevinson Chevy has a 5000.00 mark-up on it. OUCH!!!!!!!! The salesman told me that everyone will have to pay full retail, even employees. The salesperson however did not think the 5000.00 mark-up would last. My knowledgable salesman also informed me that the 6.0 motor was getting extra horsepower from the ram air and z06 cams. Southpawgrip
Hey Everyone, I have not been online all week. Thanks for your responses. I did not buy the SS for 50k thats for sure. I have not had a chance to go to any other dealers or individuals to see what kind of price I would have to pay to get one. Too busy with other things in life. I will hopefully have time in the next few weeks. As for the rust....my cavalier that I drive to work everyday does not have any rust. It's a cheapo car. My Impala SS is also rust free except the drive shaft. All Impala shafts rusted for years 94-96. I thought it was unusual for the new Silverado SS to have rust already since it just arrived from the plant. I will be looking elsewhere though to find an SSS to go next to my other SS Regards to all and enjoy your new SS's, Grip

dcairns
My knowledgable salesman also informed me that the 6.0 motor was getting extra horsepower from the ram air and z06 cams. Unfortunatley typical of car salesmen. They don't bother to study what they are selling, so they just make up BS.
GMMG
On the HP thing to my knowledge the 6.0 Motor being used is the same as the Caddy. The compression is up and I think they put more timing in them. The pistons also have the teflon coating on the sides like the LS6. Anyone else have any HP info please share. stvejay
I just took dillivery of my silverado ss and got $3000.00 in rebates and my gm employee discount. That dealer is running a scam if they think they can mark a ss up $10000.00 dollars and get it. Dont settle for anything less than a price below sticker price. GM is offering incentives that brings the price down below sticker price. The silverado ss is coming to market slow but you will find one at a fair price. Good Luck SW
