SS Silverado 1/4 mile

:chevy: I just happen to have a Motor Trend magazine in my hand and here's wut it says about the Silverado SS. It's 0-60 time is 6.96 and the 1/4 mile is 15.22 @ 89.36mph. Hot damn, thats good. Although, in the "downside" column, the SS is labeled, "not as potent as the SVT lightning" Who cares? The Silverado is the newbie in the Performance Truck industry, and it seems to be doin a helluva job so far. But I am sure Chevy will come to its senses and increase HP (maybe an 8.1L or a supercharger will do the trick). :chevy:

I doubt very seriously joe averadge is gonna turn a 15.2 in that truck, (stock that is). :shakehead:

Actually, i'd beg to differ. I think it will be no problem. I drove an Escalade EXT to a 6.5 0-60mph run, and the SS is 500 lbs lighter with lower gearing.

0-60 and quarter mile times are much much different.

Trap speed is an indicaton of the truck's capablity...............E.T. is how you judge the driver.

its pretty rare that someone can take a truck off the showroom floor and match what Motor Trend ran with it. Hell if you ask MM&FF the 03 Cobras are 12.70's bone stock.........but we all know most people struggle to get them below 13.50's (at least around here).

Umm, MotorTrend runs horrible times. I beleive they were running LS1 Camaro/Firebirds in the high 13's when many of them run low 13's stock. Also, the last time they tested a Z06, they ran a 12.7 @ 116...with that mph and that ET=crappy driving.

seems to me like Motor Trend either runs very slow, or very fast times. little seems to be of "average". everything i've ever seen run at the track usually runs .5 secs faster, or .5 secs slower than the bogus times they come up with. Car and Driver seem to have much more realistic testing times, and are much more agreeable with what you'll see at the drag strip.

Actually thats a very good time for a Z06. Have you ever raced one at the track?? I'm a pretty good driver and 12.80's were all I could turn.

Like I said, we'll have to see but your average driver wont be turnin in those 15.2's.

11's in a STOCK Z06............sorry man but thats bullshit. Can you mod them and put them into the 11's..........Yes, quite easily, but stock they are not hitting those. Most people struggle to break the 12's with them, they are hard to drive. See if one of your buddies will let you borrow one sometime and check it out, I think you'll find that the 12 mark is VERY hard to hit (stock).

I mean shit man, I can build you a dumptruck that'll run 11's but i'm talking about stock times here. Hell put em in Alaska in the dead of winter and give them a dry sticky track and they are still not going to hit 11's stock.

You know.......MM&FF said the 03 Cobra's can turn 12's...............ive seen 20 different ones at the valley and so far none under 13.10's.

Its not what you know its what you can PROVE.

btw......I'm not trying to be rude either, but Ive raced a Z06 at the track, have you?

Pretty rare? You do realize its an automatic with awd.I'm pretty sure anyone could do it press the gas all the way to the floor and go in as straight a line as possible. ;)
